Nadine Burg, Senior Counsel

I have worked with children and families for over 30 years, both as an educator and advocate, in the public and private sector. After admission to the Bar, I represented children in Dependency and Delinquency actions, which was profound, rewarding, and at times heartbreaking work. I then spent nine years with the San Mateo County Court, first as a Senior Staff Attorney with the Family Law Facilitator’s Office, and then as Supervising Attorney of the Self-Help Division. In 2011, I shifted to the private practice of family law in which I enjoy zealously advocating for my clients and helping them resolve their family law disputes fairly, efficiently, and when possible, without litigation.

My relationships with my clients are essential to my work – I enjoy helping them identify and articulate their goals, educating them about their legal choices, and assisting them to choose the best option for them, whether it is mediation, negotiation, or litigation. Having practiced family law exclusively for over 20 years, my client-centered goals are to reduce the economic and emotional impact of their family law matters, and to guide and support them through a challenging time of life.

I am active in the following organizations: Alameda County Family Law Association (current Board member, past Chair); Alameda County, Contra Costa County, and California Bar Association Family Law Sections. I also volunteer in the courts and with the local Bar Association assisting self-represented litigants, and am active in the community, sitting on boards of other local organizations.

Originally from SoCal, I made an unexpected pitstop in the East Bay over 30 years ago, and never left. My husband and I proudly raised our daughter attending our local public schools, and we sat in the stands of many a soccer game. In my free time, you can find me hiking, singing, cooking, playing with my crazy pup, spending time with family and friends, and learning to enjoy our newly empty nest.
